Where wild Brazilian jungle meets serene sandy beaches.
Ponta dos Ganchos sits on the densely-forested banks of Brazil’s Emerald Coast, bringing you within a few steps of lush forest on one side, and azure waters on the other.
Tucked away on a private peninsula, the property grants guests access to all manner of activities and creature comforts away from the crowds, while still being just an hour’s drive from Florianopolis.
What we love about Ponta dos Ganchos
- 25 private villas built into the hillside with spectacular views over the jungle canopy to the sea beyond
- Each villa comprises sea views and wooden-decking; some rooms also have private plunge pools and in-room saunas
- Relaxed dining schedules give guests total freedom of choice over when and where to eat – whether at the Vezela restaurant by the beach, a private picnic on the hotel grounds or even an intimate dinner on the hotel’s private island
- Activities include canoeing, bird watching, jungle walks, fishing, snorkelling and more
- The Ponta dos Ganchos team are deeply invested in values of environmental sustainability; they use organic waste to fertilise their garden, the bungalows are sustainably designed, and the property is devoted to a reforestation campaign of the surrounding area
Look no further than the view from your private balcony for inspiration on how to fill your days
Start your day with an early morning yoga session on the deck while the world around you wakes up, then head down to the Espaco das Bateiras for breakfast overlooking the neighbouring bay with its gently-bobbing fishing boats. After breakfast, choose between pure relaxation or exploration: unwind in the plunge pools and spa followed by a caipirinha on the beach, or spend an action-packed day diving and snorkelling from the deck of a private yacht. If you’d prefer a land-based adventure, make use of the property’s tennis court or head out on one of the area’s spectacular local hikes.
Anavilhanas Jungle Lodge has a very privileged location directly across from Anavilhanas National Park in the mosquito-less Rio Negro region of the Amazon Rainforest.
The remote hotel is a 3-hour drive or a 30-minute seaplane from Manaus, Brazil. There are direct flights to Manaus from Sao Paulo.
When to Travel
December to April
Ponta dos Ganchos can be visited year-round, with high season being between December and April; during these months temperatures are higher, but are brought down to a pleasant level by the ocean breeze. Humidity levels are high during January and February, so watch out for tropical storms.
