Barracuda Hotel & Villas

ITACARÉ, BRAZIL

WELCOME TO BARRACUDA HOTEL & VILLAS

Tucked into a palm-fringed cove just beyond the buzz of Itacaré, Barracuda Hotel & Villas offers a pared-back, off-grid experience with just the right amount of polish.

The blend of Swedish restraint and Bahian charm gives Barracuda a disarmingly unpretentious warmth. The views? Jungle and ocean. The energy? Still, but never fully still. A few days at Barracuda is enough to reset your pace entirely.

Local materials and craft define the design, from timber beams to hand-thrown ceramics. Days are slow and generous: yoga at sunrise, hikes into the Atlantic Forest, private dinners prepared with what’s best from the fishermen that morning. The sense of community runs deep. The Barracuda ‘tribe’ includes everyone from your surf instructor to your chef, and they’re all proud to share their patch of Bahia with you.

What we love about Barracuda Hotel & Villas

  • Just 17 suites and a handful of villas in total seclusion, nestled between jungle and sea.
  • Sustainably built and run, using solar energy and native reforestation.
  • Local, seasonal food prepared with warmth and simplicity including catch-of-the-day seafood.
  • Villas come with private staff and infinity pools, ideal for families or groups.
  • Deep-rooted community engagement via the Yandê Itacaré Institute and social projects.
  • Forest yoga deck, infinity pool, and design rooted in Bahian craft and Scandinavian style.

What to do at Barracuda Hotel & Villas

Days unfold slowly here.

There’s no itinerary, just a series of good decisions. Spend the morning exploring Itacaré’s beaches, riding horses through the forest or paddleboarding through mangroves. Hike to hidden waterfalls or join a local guide for a jeep safari deep into the reserve.

Guests can take surf lessons, try capoeira, or spend the day visiting cocoa plantations and artisans in nearby communities. And when you’ve had your fill of movement, indulge in a massage or simply float in the villa pool with the sound of cicadas for company.

When to Travel

December to March and July to September

The best time to visit Casa Yahri and the Barichara region is from December to March and July to September, when the weather is dry, warm, and ideal for hiking, outdoor adventures, and exploring the villages. Daytime temperatures typically range from 20–28°C, with cooler, pleasant evenings. The rainy seasons, from April to June and October to November, bring lush green landscapes but occasional heavy showers, which may limit certain outdoor activities.
